Pinoy is only one of two Filipino-language DVD rental companies we're aware of serving the United States, and will only really be of interest to those of Philippines ancestry looking for a taste of home. Though small, its design is slicker than most niche DVD rental sites.
It has many of the features you'd expect from a large, mainstream DVD rental site. Their collection is split into Filipino and English language films, with a generous 15 genres listed in each. However, the total inventory seems on the small side--again, only really appealing to the Filipino niche market.
We did find the website a bit slow to load though. In addition to lacking a customer service phone number, we were not able to find much comment on this company on the web, so we gave it a fairly low service rating given its small size and the factors already mentioned.
As of 1 October 2006 Epinoymovies was absorbed by Pinoy Movie Rentals, so the firm at least does appear to be growing. The company is owned by DMC Trading Inc. They also have a Movie Store where you can purchase films. They also have a gift certificate service.
Prices: Pinoy Movie Rentals has a reasonable set of fees: for one DVD out, unlimited $9.95 per month, for two discs out, $14.95, and for three DVDs out, $19.95. You can either get a 10 day free trial or get a discount on your first month. There are also special bonus plans that allow you to pay up front for a year's service for 20% off, or 6 months up front for 10% off.
